So I got to see this girl today. Wasn't sure what I'd be facing as I was told she was nasty and didn't like strangers. I was expecting some barking and or growling when I entered her "dog room". She didn't make a sound but charged over to me and spent a good 5 minutes sniffing and smelling me all over. Then she went off and brought me an old wallet, and we played fetch for a while. I offered her a treat which she snatched from my hand almost taking 2 fingers with it! After 10 mins or so she was sitting and taking the treat from my hand gently. She showed no signs of food aggression, or any aggression, in fact, whilst I was there. She enjoyed being brushed, stroked and massaged. She had lots of energy for her age, (found her pedigree, she's 11 in July), and appeared happy enough considering the awful environment she is kept in.

Only health problems I could see were that her claws needed clipping and her eyes appeared a little cloudy. Didn't seem to be any outward signs of Hd or arthritis. The girl is in desperate need of a bath and groom! Can't comment on her attitude towards other animals or kids, so will need to assume that there are issues there for now.

Have taken some photos and a member of the family has agreed to wait a week or so to see if she can be rehomed. Unfortunate, the property is changing hands in a week or two, if we can't sort anything for her by then the family will have her pts. After meeting this dog I'm even more convinced she deserves a 2nd chance. She is a lovely girl who just wants someone to care for her. So I'm gonna spent tomorrow making phone calls and trying to get her sorted somehow.
