| I have had an email from a guy and his family who are looking for a jrt. They live in Wigan..my problem now is what with all the hoo-haw going on do i bother with a homecheck if one of the pups was to be sold? If so does anyone know how i would go about it? I fell lucky with the last litter as they all have fab loving homes but with this litter i have had nothing but bad luck and i dont want pups going to just anyone. Guess that sounds real mean but cant help how i feel as regards them....i am overly protective and becoming way too attached to them all.
Appreciate any advice, thoughts etc
cheers all |

| thats a good idea shelley if you dont get anyone to do a home check for you, then all you can do is asking him the usual questions when they come to visit. if you dont feel they are suitable you wont let them have a pup. good luck maz |

I thought about doing that about an hour ago...do you think they would do one? I dont mind making a donation at all, just want pups to go to good homes....
if i didnt have to go work i'd seriously consider going up there with a friend.
i'll ask around

| Me being a thicko with all this, what is actually involved in a home check?
When i rescued a dog back in the 90's i never had a home check, was just allowed to take the dog home for a small donation (was at animal aid in huncote, not sure if they are still going but a nice place) so yeah i have absolutely no idea whatsoever what is involved.
But on a lighter note i have joined another forum and will put my name down so that i can tag along on a homecheck and learn whats involved. I have also put my name down to help out with transport. Should have helped tonight but thats another story.
But in the meantime feel free to enlighten me xxx
Just currently messaging the guy as regards this. I just hope he is ok with it all,so will let you know as soon as i get a reply.

| no probs, its not too far and I do homechecks all the time so I know what I am looking for and what to ask.
the main things are, secure home/garden, how long will the dog be left alone, what about holidays, will you innoculate the dog, kids, how many, how young, what would you do if things didn't work out.
I can usually tell if things are right, in saying that, I have made a mistake in the past, one dog I re-homes ended up in Leigh cats and dogs home, the woman was a clever liar, dogs fine now, in foster care.
I can do it on Sunday, just let me know, its no trouble.
I,m very friendly, I wont sit him down with a very bright light over his head...lol |
