    Well.....

The pup we got back in that was supposed to be 'vicious' and 'agressive' has been with a friend of mind now since Wednesday living with a pack of GSDs and Jacks!

She phoned this morning and in her normal thick accent said 'Nothing wrang wi this dug!' 'He just needs a gid hame!'

So with her expert knowledge I am going with it. She has pushed him to his limit and he still did not react. In her opinion the dog has been babied and has the mind of a 6 month old....instead of 20 months.
She also commented that 'the dug has four feet no twa' and 'if she cud a put a nappy on she wid o' She thinks the woman treated the dog like a child, allowed it to sleep with her and eat of her dinner plate!!

Anyway, he is now ready for a home. Which I am over the moon with as it will do him no good to come back here to a kennel enviroment. The quicker the better for him.

He is lovely and deserves a good opportunity to live a long and happy life somewhere that will treat him right and not confuse the poor creature.

I do have photos, but will post later as I need to get out to grab 3 hound pups and a beagle for the show tomorrow....Now this is gonna be fun as I am on my own today!!!

But don't you think that is a great outcome for a dog who came with such a bad rep due to the girl not being able to control him. I can't thank my friend enough for stepping in and helping me out in the 'boys' hour of need. A true friend indeed.

    this is great news carolyne

i saw a post on your fb... has she by any chance advertised him on gumtree aka known as scumtree ....

gumtree is a bad site ..quite a few of the doggy people on fb are campaigning for it to to stop the selling of animals.. there has been a few horror stories ... Karen her self scours the site for dogs in need ...

just thought i'd let you know hun

YES it was MEEEEE! I do use Gumtree and I know it is awful but I do and have had some brilliant homes for older dogs from there. One just has to watch the shite which comes from it. I turn down most but have had the odd gem.
I suppose one just uses common sense really and has to be vigilant.
I never let the older ones go with papers etc and they do have to sign a contract with a spay/neuter order. Which I have not had a problem with so far but I am very - almost uber careful. Had enough years behind to smell a rat!!!! Although no one is perfect and I have made mistakes but luckily none of the dogs suffer because of it.
I agree that sites like Gumtree, Uk Classifieds, Vivastreet etc are just a haven for puppy farmers, BYB and the like but like everything it is a numbers game and one has to seperate the wheat from the chaff and some genuine people who can offer a brilliant home but can't afford a premium priced pup do visit them. So what the 'hell' is one to do! Better sifting through garbage to get a good home for a dog that will only go downhill sitting in kennels than having nothing. I don't mind spending the time talking to idiots on the phone....but the right one is out there and I will use ANY medium to get a voice to them. I don't dig dirt all day....I dig for the gold! and find it.
    xx

PostSubject: Re: Update of the 'BOY'   Fri May 13, 2011 12:48 pm

Totally. I spend days, if not out in the kennel, down the field training or on the phone/internet dealing with dogs.
I get phone calls from people I have not even sold a dog too, or not even I breed I have been associated with - asking for help. If I can, I will.

I know the pitfalls of the internet and I know it has made the world smaller and sometimes nasty. Everything one does seems to be common knowledge now and sometimes people with the best intentions tar everyone with the same brush.

I use whatever medium I can to help the dogs I have in my care who need families get to good homes. No matter what. I will do anything to enable that and I go through so many potentials before getting to that perfect one for that dog. I don't just do it for the puppies I sell and not even just for any I happen to get back, but for people who ask randomly. If I can I will!

I know that a lot of people are getting rubbed up the wrong way, as I am a strong forthright overbeariing (sometimes) person but my one and only concern is the dogs. Bottom line. I market like I would sell a kitchen, BUT there is a BIG difference.....I VET the people who enquire and I turn away 90% of all enquires.
Example, recently I had an enquiry for a puppy (not got any) and they filled in my questionnaire...I turned them away due to their work commitments (not a bad thing but doesn't suit me) I got an email from them yesterday stating they have booked a puppy from a breeder (in it 5 minutes) Go figure! some folk will sell to anyone just to get 'rid' of puppies!!!!

Oooops sorry soap box!!! I'll stop now before I get angry because of the ones that sell puppies all the time and have no idea what they are doing with the breeds and sell to the first buyer, folk who don't take the stuff they bred back etc et c....I could go on. But I won't.
Bad day I suppose and this has just caught me at the wrong time. I am passionate as it is a way of life for me, not a hobby.
