all for the delay in posting
but it has been a very hectic night and crazy day
Oh what fun we had....as you know Lucy was very restless yesterday and showing all signs of going into labour, talk about long winded
Anyhoos....Lucy had her first pup at 2:43am in the junk/computer room....I woke hubby up to come sort out the puppy as I am a little squeamish and hate the thought of things going wrong, and with hubby being a very calm person it was easier all round for him to take over, despite the fact that he was off to scotland today
First born was an ickle boy, came out head first, weighing in at 200g and seeming very healthy...Lucy did the usual stuff like cleaning etc....but wouldnt allow him to suckle.....however shortly afterwards at 3:23am another puppy was born, also head first......another boy weighing in at 201g and seeming healthy. At 4:18am we had another one, a boy, but feet first this time and he weighed 195g also seeming healthy. Next one was born at 5:36am, and weighing in at 210g was another boy
he had to have help as he also came out feet first but got his head stuck...he has a big head
Lucy did eventually allow the pups to suckle but that was hard going as the little boogers wouldnt latch on despite putting the teat stright in front of them whilst holding their heads, but they got the gist of it eventually.
Come just after 6am Lucy started shivering/shaking so i thought uh--oh here we go again, but nothing
so come 7:30am i called the emergency vets and was a case to keep an eye out incase she started straining (which she hadnt done) and if nothing appears after an hour,either to call them back or our vets. I called our vets at 8:20am and managed to get her in straight the way. She had an x-ray to see if there was anything left and also a blood test to check calcium and something else (Glucose?)....both were ok and x-ray showed up nothing which was also good. Puppies were checked over and everything all ok.
Finally got home just after 10am after a quick stop at Kennelgate to show Jo the puppies and to grab a bite from Subway.
Hubby finally left for Scotland (Edinburgh) at 11:30am ish and arrived just after 5pm so not bad going on his part but he is so knackered, bless him. Luckily he doesnt have to do his job til tomorrow, so he is having a very early night, well deserved
I have taken some piccies and uploaded to pb and will give you the link so you can browse. I would upload them on here but I am absolutely shattered (well I have been up since 6am yesterday morning) and canna be arsed
I have managed to grab a couple hours sleep as i roped the m-i-l to come up and puppy sit for me
