| What is her age? She is showing talent which needs to be enhanced. Has her Art teacher at school seen these....is she getting encouragement from them. I personally think a talent like this should be nurtured. I love charcoal as a medium and have used it for many years producing some interesting work. One in fact won a small comp years ago....I got a bag of dog food!!! lol You mention she has started to paint...is it watercolour, acrylic or oil? Totally different mediums with differing results. I prefer acrylic as it dries quicker than oil, which enables one to do an over paint easier. Here's one of mine from years ago showing three of my favourite Beagles...Ziggy in the middle along with his Mum Melba, and another of her pups Mark who qualified for the final of Pup of the Year '92 Oh and it is Alasdairs leg......wearing one of those horrendous sweat suits of the late 80's!!! |

| She is 13 and totally self taught. A hobby which she spends a lot of time on. She has just completed an acrylic painting of a lab pup. She has done some previous pencil drawings which have been posted on here also. I think your charcoal of the beagles is fab you are deffo talented. |

| Wow. Very good. Has she tried mixing Acrylic with the oils yet to give a denser image....longer to dry but you can build on it easier and give more depth? Thank you for you complement....I have little chance to do it now...I concentrate on my photography now. However, I love seeing new talent coming through as it brings a refreshing change to stuff that is out there

| She has only just started the painting so hasn't experimented at all yet still finding her feet so to speak but given time I'm sure she'll be trying all sorts.
She is home educated by the way so no she has had no encouragement from art teachers at school but she gets plenty of encouragement from family friends associates and neighbours all saying that she should persue it. |

| She is home schooled....wow! I would have loved to have done that with my two but I think I was just too scared I wouldn't do a good enough job. Well done you.
On the Art front, with home schooling is that in the ciriculum (sic) or is it an extra? Do they supply your materials for the Art work? Since your daughter has obviously got a wee bit of a talent there, have you thought about letting her explore Art. ie batik, pastels, clay, etc etc I think if she has a good eye, which she obviously does, she would be able to pick up the other disciplines very easily. |

| Basically can't do with the mentality/attitudes/ language lack of respect (need I continue) that comes from a heck of a lot of school children especially where we live. I tend to do most of the teaching (and tend to learn alot at the same time) although she is very self motivated so she really is a joy to teach We have a friend who is a qualified teacher and we ask him at times for advice etc. There really is a large home ed community out there as well which is very supportive. Home educated children do not have to follow a ciriculum per se and you have no financial support from local LEAS. As long as you can prove to a reasonable person that you are educating your child to their age aptitude and ability it is all very legal. Dont get me wrong it has its good days and bad days but generally we try and make learning as fun as possible and IMHO that's how it should be and how the children learn more. |
