PostSubject: Shady and her hair loss   Mon Mar 28, 2011 11:27 pm

I know the pic looks shocking but she is not as bad as she looks honest.

Shady has been losing her hair for the past few months, I think it’s
hormonal as it only started since having the puppies. I don’t want my vet to treat her for it as the shampoo
probably contains chemicals and he will want to give her some sort of
steroid injection and blame it on the food I feed her, coz he hates the fact I feed raw food.
    and blames everything on that.
    I have tried Hubiscrub
no joy... TGEL no joy....T Tree/shampoo conditioner and oil no joy
so I have sent for some of this stuff http://www.perfectpetskin.co.uk/ off the net so
but.... if it don't work do any of you have any secret potions you know of or have used anything over the counter/internet that works.

even Kaos is scratching in this photo

Is shady nibling at it, or is it just her coat has dropped out?
The stuff i buy is more for dry skin (colloidal oatmeal shampoo & a virbec spray conditioner). Sorry i cant be of help Karen, i hope the stuff you get works.

she hasn't got any worse since the pups where born she just hasn't had any re-growth of hair and is forever scratching but her skin is fine, not scabby or red with sore's.

Karen, if you don't want to take her to a traditional vet, why not take her to a hostilic vet , they only give natural treatments, might be more expensive but you might be able to claim on your insurance,

Awww poor Shady hope you get her sorted soon

Sounds like it might be hormonal as its only come on since the pups arrived
Mind you it could be stress after having the pups you know how it is once you have babies

I do know of a woman whose Bernie loses loads of hair after whelping so it could well be hormonal. Dont some women lose hair at a greater rate after having a baby because they don't lose any whilst pregnant?

The main concern for me though would be the scratching. Although that could be due to the loose hair I suppose.

Difficult one but the suggestion of a holistic vet sounds useful.

I havent used the shampoo Shelley. but I used the spray a couple of times and then left her alone for a week. I don't really know if the spray has worked or that mother nature did what she does but............
    LOOK
