Hi peeps Have Caius booked for training classes in february (when the intake was - he missed out by 3 weeks for the last intake ) Anyways he is going really well on the lead when out on his walks with brogan but I've been doing a bit of research about recall training. Basically I'm looking for advice and wondering how you pro's went/go about it. I've read that some people use a lunge line like they use to train horses others have used long lines. where are the best places to buy these and what would you recommend.Any particular brand type that you recommend etc. Some of the long leashes I've looked at look a bit flimsy for a strong dog/pup. really value your help guy and girlies Thanks

start in the house let him know you have treats livercake is best, let him just wander round then call him just short words like caius come and when he comes to you give him a treat and ALWAYS praise him, do it whenever he is just walking round the house /garden , he will soon get the hang of it then next step is caius come and lead him with the treat straight in front of you and then tell him sit , the main thing is for him to know he will always get a treat/voice reward everytime he comes back, i started training 10 yrs ago and just used a piece of washing line when i was training susie/bonnie , don't ever run after your dog if he does decide to run away , just run the other way and call him very excited he will soon come to you [ dogs love their mummies ] but always praise , never loose your temper if you feel you are stop and try another time, also remember caius has got some of the best obedience genes in him so he will soon pick it up good luck _________________ HAPPINESS IS A OBEDIENT DOG , I MISS MY SWEETIE MORE EACH DAY

we started in the house straight away with Kala, we just shouted "kala come" and gave her loads of praise and a treat when she did, she soon got th ehang of it, then when she went into the garden playing with Marley I would shout Kala come and again loads of praise and a treat. she has never been on lead on the beach or the hill so while playing we always do a few Kala comes and she always does.........Marley never goes far enough away!! _________________

we did pretty much the same with fred.... the usual 'come fred' in the house and garden.... but when we were out i used a lunge line as at the time the only fields and parks i knew of were surrounded by main roads, so i kept him on the line for ages he has amazing recall .... if theres no dogs about with daisy it was totally different, i was a lot more confident than i was with fred, and we just let her off and kept calling her and giving her loads of treats, now shes fantastic off lead with or without other dogs about _________________ ~The dog is a gentleman! Guess i lack the confidence i'd never forgive myself if owt happened to him ( come to think of it neither would Craig or Sue) He is doing so well and I'm just so used to dopey dog brogan If Caius is anything like the other Jacobrad babes I guess I shouldn't worry all of ya

Dusk is great as long as she has a toy she doesnt care and comes back for the treats she is really good, Storm pretty good as well but if there are other dogs off the lead she wants to play then comes back i just run away and she runs like a bat out of hell to catch me. Zara she does what she wants just twaddles along and smells at her own pace she does nothing fast!!! lol I'm sure you will be fine!!!
