| On Christmas morning I woke to find my naked rattie Baldrick had passed away. I rescued him, his son, his wife and 2 daughter back in July.
he has always had health problems. He has suffered with continuous cysts around his face which if left untreated would eventually burst and leave behind a massive hole where they had been. I had to clean these twice a day to avoid infection.
After course of 2 different antibiotics, the vet did a biopsy on him, this found that he needed to be treated by an antibiotic injection every other day, I took him every 3 weeks and this stopped working, so the vet took him in again to lance all the cysts and clean them out, he "died " on the table but they were able to bring him back.
He was then given a new antibiotic, a small yellow tablet, which I had to crush, divide into eight, mix with water and give to him in a syringe, he seemed to be picking up after a week, but on Christmas Morning he was gone...
He went through so much, me lancing and cleaning the abscesses, which I know hurt him, never once did he go to bite me... he was a joy to know and I miss him.
please don't anyone ever say to me rats are horrible things... they are a joy and a privilege to own, s**t... I,m crying again
I spent over £200 trying to get him better, I do not begrudge a penny of it. His son Marvin is now alone, he is going to the vets on Wednesday to have THE OP... so he can live with the girls. please keep everything crossed all goes well for him |
