| The hips are xrayed and sent to the BVA who assess the hip socket and score it 0-106 with 0 being the best.. Gemma has 0/0 hips the best result you can get and every breeders dream. Alfie was 2/4 which is still excellent as the total is in single figures.
IT is a test to determine the degree of hip dysplacia carried by the dog. No good breeder would breed from a dog whose hips were over 19 which is the breed average although it is only a test and does not mean that dogs with hip dysplacia cannot be produced.
