...Tilly was attacked by a Mastiff tonight in the park

it was a horrid viscous un-provoked attack and I didn't know what to do it took me completely by surprise......

I saw the woman ahead of me with this huge dog on a lead I was walking on the path and she moved over with her dog to a grassy part, the dog was crouching behind a tree and I smiled and commented he was hiding from my dog..with that he dragged the woman across the grassy bit to the path, he was so strong he pulled her onto her back and she let go of him and he lunged straight for Tilly, she tried to fight him off but he put all his weight on top of her she was screaming her little head off, the woman grabbed the dogs tail and pulled and I kicked and kicked him eventually he let go of Tilly, I'm screaming at her that her dog should be muzzled, she said "I'm sorry he is unpredictable????" i'm swearing like a fecking docker at this point and yelling "if he's unpredictable he should be f**king muzzled yer stupid f**king cow you cant even control a dog that f**king size what the bleeding hell are you doing taking him out with no muzzle? and he's not been neutered are you f**king thick. if he attacks a smaller dog his jaws will kill it in seconds are you completely f**king stupid".
"she kept shouting sorry! is HE ok" to me as I walked out of the park but I ignored her and just turned and put 2 fingers up at her.

Tilly seemed ok but was limping so I rang the vet and luckily they were still there finishing off, he treated her for shock and gave me some pain killers for her leg he said she has bruising but it's not broken or anything. she seems ok and has eaten, but is constantly licking her leg. my poor baby

OMG KAREN!!!!!!! Poor Tilly and poor you I would have been beside meself, Hope Tilly is ok and isnt too traumatised

Have you ever seen this dog before Cant believe a woman would walk a mastiff without a muzzle knowing it was unpredictable
Just think if it had been a child walking a smaller dog

Hope your both feeling better tomorrow and it doesnt set Tilly back too much with other dogs

get her back out with a big dog asap

So sorry to hear this Karen,it must have been terrifying for both you and Tilly.
Stupid cow,i would report the incident anyway just so theres a record of it as
it might and probably will happen again with that dog.I would also find out where she lives and smack her in the face with your vets bill.

I agree with Summer though the police need to build a profile on people with dogs like this . We've unfortunely witnessed people with aggressive dogs get away with stuff like this and the police av told us that if they dont know about it they cant do any thing about it. If it happens again to you and Tilly (God forbid) or someone else at least they are aware of it

Me and Melissa found them before I took her back to the vets
the vet today gave her an antibiotic injection and some tablets to take for the next 5 days.
the Police said there's not much we can do unless we can find out where she lives

OMG those puncture wounds look really painful

You ought to contact a local paper and do a story if you cant find out who this woman is Even if you cant find her bet someone will recognise the description you give Might just make her realise what an idiot she is taking an unpredictable dog out without a muzzle on

Dont beat yourself up about not finding the puncture wounds straight away its hard to see with long coats
You would think the vet would of spotted then tho
