| **Is Compulsory Microchipping the way forward**
**how can we make people comply** why are dogs in rescues and pounds un-claimed with Microchips?
**why are these owners not prosecuted and made to pay for dumping their pet?**
**What would you like to happen? how do we reduce the killing of so many dogs?** _________________ "My sunshine doesn't come from the skies, it comes from the love in my dogs eyes." | it would be fantastic if all people who bred dogs, whether they be proper breeders or back yard breeders chipped the dogs before they left to go to new homes... at least that way if theyre found in rescue, someone can be accountable for them....
it would be impossible to make this happen though.... short of making breeding illegal unless you have some sort of paid licence and enforcing a large fine if found to be breeding without one... again... this would be impossible, people will always find a way of getting around any laws
i always say that animal welfare should be taught in schools from a very young age, making sure that children are taught the proper way to look after an animal, and the consequences they may suffer if they dont ...
other than that ive no idea hun :2431: _________________ ~The dog is a gentleman! I hope to go to his heaven, not man's~ |

| Personally I think breeding dogs SHOULD be licensed. To say that people will find a way round the law is no reason not to introduce it. The same could be said of ANY law.
It should be illegal to sell puppies or advertise them for sale unless you can prove you are licensed to do so.
I am sick & tired of unscrupulous, immoral, money grabbing halfwits exploiting animals, the dog in particular, and if they are not stopped there is a real danger dogs will be banned as pets altogether.
Secondly, as I think Karen has already said elsewhere, rescue organisations need to take a serious reality check and drop the holier than thou attitude when it comes to working owners. I'm sick & tired of rescue homes turning their noses up at me because I work full time. Just let them try & tell me my dogs aren't healthy & happy.
Druggies & hoodies are at home all day. Does that make them better owners than me? I don't bloody think so!!!!
I didn't watch Panorama last night, the OH wouldn't let me cos he knew I would either throw something at the tele or burst into tears. I love Staffies and I find this all very distressing. I'm old enough to remember when GSDs were the dog to have and the problems that caused.
What a truly sick & shallow society we live in where a particular breed of dog can be a fashion item or status symbol.

| This is a subject I feel passionately about as I'm sure we all do. I fear for the future of the dog in this country, I really do, unless drastic action is taken and sooner rather than later. |
