PostSubject: what to do? what to do?? puppy needs out of cruel home.   Thu Jul 08, 2010 10:34 pm

I got talking to a member on the pet street forum, and she asked if I knew anyone that would re-home a small collie X roughly 5 months old. she is out in all weather

    Quote:
    karen - help.

i really don't know what to do - my next door neighbour
is abusing her dog. it is out in the rain all day, crying, it now has a
shed with a filthy blanket, its a black lab x puppy that NEVER gets
walked and has next to no food - usually table scraps. the rspca wont do
anything. shes going away over night and leaving the dog. if i could
find a home for her i'm thinking of stealing her.
    i don't think they
would look for her, she doesn't even like it, when i suggested to take
    it, she was very defensive.
do you know anybody who would be
interested if i can take her?? this girl needs a loving home while she
still can she has food, water and ´shelter´ apparently. to my knowledge
they aren't beating her - but it is neglect. i have seen the kids sit on
her back. she sits chained in the back with access to a shed and lies on
a minging blanket. its really breaking my heart to listen to her at night she has NEVER been on a walk to
my knowledge, we have cctv and i check the cameras incase its at night
but nothing. dont think shes ever been the vet. my boyfriend said he will kick the
back door in to get her out if we can find a home xxx

anyway it turns out that this Lady lives in the next street to me

    what do you think guys

have you been in contact with the rspca , take photo's of the dog and it's condition and put the photo's on the net , there must be some organisation that can help, don't be doing anything stupid , because even though you think it's rescuing a dog to the police it's theft unless it escaped and got lost

its a shame the dog doesnt escape ... i couldnt bear living next door to a dog being treated like that

we had a neighbour who abused her cat.... the cat eventually wandered off and never returned, lucky that!!!! :ciggy:

its hard to tell on the pics, but to me she doesnt look underweight or that shes walking about in poo and wee , the yard looks clean and the shed is plenty big enough, providing shes not in there with loads of junk.... its a tough one

the thing is Shelley I know this family they have been asbo'd so many times, once in the street where I lived, and then they moved them into a house next door to my Mum, all in all they have been moved about 9 times in the last 7/8 years. and every time they had dogs that all ended up in the pound before they were a year old.
however saying that she looks ok to me, she had food and water doesn't look stressed or anything, and her Shed is just for her. although she doesn't go out and socialise with other dogs, it is the only problem really for this girl, she has plenty of human company. and she could take up the foster space of a more needy dog.
although I know that she will probably end up in the pound sooner or later is a worry.

one of the neighbours asked her a few weeks back if she wanted to re-home it but she was quite off hand about it and said no.

People's perceptions of what is cruel differ enormously.

The people next door to us (from farming folk!!) have a black Lab. She's a lovely girl, very sweet. She lives outside and is only allowed in the house for an hour in the evening and she is then turned back into the garden, no matter what the weather. We often see her sitting on their doorstep in the rain.

BUT she is well fed, there is somebody home all day, she is taken to the vets if she needs it and she has her own shed complete with clean bed & blankets.

I hate the fact that she is rarely allowed into the house but that's farmers for you!!

it does differ Bev, like the dog you mentioned it's the lack of socialisation
    animal or human that
    I think is cruel.
