My friends dog had pups this weekend and one was born dead. When they showed it to her so that she knew it was dead she started to eat it!! Is that normal?

yes its normal, in the wild they would eat all dead pups because the smell would encourage other animals round which could kill live pups , thats why they clean up after pups as well,

yes Bev, something to do with natural instincts, in the wild they eat their dead ones so as not to attract other animals looking for and killing the live ones.
