Dog is killed in front of horrified owner

A WOMAN looked on in horror as two
German Shepherd dogs killed her pet shitzu.

Eight-year old Honey was savaged by the two larger dogs who locked their
jaws into her leaving no means of escape on Wednesday, April 14.

Honey's owner, Kim Morton, 32, of Keighley Road, Harold Hill, who also
has two other dogs, said: "I heard one of the dogs screaming in the
garden so I looked out the back window and saw the two German Shepherds
    going at Honey."

One dog had clamped its jaws around her neck and the other around her
    body.

Kim screamed at her friend Carla Wold, 23, who was visiting, to help
Honey while she ran to the German Shepherds' owners' house in Camborne
Avenue, whose garden backs onto hers, but no-one answered.

Kim said the dogs had got in through an adjoining fence.

Kim's other shitzu, Pippa, and her Pug, Sasha, were also in the garden
when the German Shepherds, Mozzy and Brini, attacked.

They managed to avoid the worst of the rage by running back into Kim's
house as soon as Carla opened the garden door to run to Honey's aid.

Carla, of Bridgewater Road, who is six months pregnant, said: "They had
Honey and were growling and shaking her. I was face-to-face with them
    and they looked massive.

"I picked up a plastic chair and was banging it on the floor trying to
    get them to go away.

"They stopped and looked at me and then carried on so I tried throwing
the chair at them but they wouldn't stop.

"I didn't want to go too near in case they turned on me."

Mum-of-four Kim, who was in a state of hysterics being consoled by
neighbours, said she couldn't bear to watch her dog suffer and couldn't
    face seeing the corpse afterwards.

Kim, whose seven-year-old son and three daughters, aged three, five and
six, were playing in the garden moments before the gruesome attack,
said: "I keep thinking how my children had been out there. It could have
been one of my kids dead.

"I've not even had an apology off the owners."

She added: "They got hold of my pug as well. She was dripping wet round
her neck and ear. Obviously she managed to get away from them."

Police were called and visited both addresses and gave the German
Shepherds' owner advice on security and the behaviour of their pets.

A police spokesman said: "As this was a dog on dog crime it would be
dealt with in the civil courts and therefore was not a criminal matter.

"The safer neighbourhood team has been made aware and will monitor the
    situation."

Kim said she intends to take action against the German Shepherds'
    owners.
