PostSubject: melissa the animal agressive dog   Mon Mar 22, 2010 3:09 pm

ive been to the kennels today and to my surprise the little border collie is still there, she is absolutely adorable and very intelligent, someone took her home for a trial run and bought her back after the first night saying she was a handful, bear in mind she is only about 3 mths old ....

the lady who owns the kennels has asked elaine if i would take melissa out for a walk as she needs it more than the other dogs, shes never been for a walk since she got there, the reason i havent taken her out before is because she is very agressive towards all animals and one of the previous work experience told me that she had bitten him a couple of times, elaine the head kennel maid tells me diferent, she has told me, melissa is not at all agressive towards humans, just animals, anything that moves, she will go for it ...

i have told them i will take melissa out providing i have all the proper equipment, i am not taking her out without a proper lead and a muzzle ... tbh im not sure i should be taking her out if she is that bad, i dont want the responsibility of her biting someones dog or causing severe injury to someone, would liz the kennel owner take responsibility or would she leave me to take the burden but i also dont want them thinking i only go to walk the fluffy cute dogs, i dont know what to do?!?!?, no one has even bothered to ring the number i gave them to see if melissa can be rehomed they didnt think it would be a serious interest

i will walk all dogs who i think need it most and the ones i think i can handle, after all im not qualified enough to handle the more serious cases :2431: bugger putting myself in danger ...but how do i tell this to the kennel owner without sounding too soft if you kwim and should i take melissa out or not i was thinking if just taking her into the next field and doing some training with her, would this be a good suggestion to put to them without sounding like im copping out!!

They must think you are capable of walking her shelly.
Maybe if you walked her up and down the kennels first to see if you feel you are confident enough to walk her in public...just an idea

they said they thought i was competent enough to walk her, i feel i am too, freds a handful sometimes with other dogs, so im sure melissa will be no problem too, im hoping anyway, im not sure just how bad she really is tbh.... i thought maybe walking her around the field next to the kennels and tiring her out with some training may be the better idea till i know her better .... the areas where i walk with the dogs are quite narrow if another dog comes by, and i dont fancy being put in a tricky situation with a dog i hardly know

CAN'T YOU PUT A MUZZLE ON HER THE 1ST TIME, JUST SEE HOW BAD SHE IS IF ANOTHER DOG COMES ALONG, IF SHE'S NOT TOO BAD YOU CAN HAVE SOME IDEA OF HOW MUCH CONTROL YOU WILL NEED,

i was thinking that hun ....would you mind? had i known the council were going to piss arse about this much i would have phoned them myself ages ago, tbh im not sure why liz or elaine hasnt rang them, if they were that desperate for melissa to find a home .... the council wouldnt have minded, they are desperate to get rid of them, liz cares about all the dogs but i get the impression she isnt all that hands on ....she quite often doesnt know what rescues she has in the kennels....
