Two dogs and a sheep have died after they plunged over cliffs.

    A
Pointer and a Jack Russell thought to have been chasing the sheep at
Tinsey Head, near Dartmouth in South Devon, late yesterday morning
(7/3/10), as their owners took them for a walk.

The three animals ran over the edge of the cliff at speed and fell into the sea.

    Brixham
Coastguard co-ordinated a rescue effort, with the Dartmouth inshore
lifeboat and the cliff rescue team trying to save the animals, but all
    three drowned.

"The advice is to have dogs on a
lead, especially when there are sheep about", said a Maritime &
    Coastguard Agency spokesman.

"The animals had very little chance of keeping their heads above water in very rough sea´s."
