PostSubject: Gang films lurcher killing deer in Leyland dog attack   Fri Feb 26, 2010 7:38 pm

A gang set a lurcher upon a pregnant deer in Lancashire and filmed the dog killing the animal in a savage attack..

The dog pounced on the doe near Garth Prison, Leyland, on Thursday after it was released from a Citroen Berlingo.
Witnesses told police the occupants filmed the attack on mobile phones before
driving off and leaving the dog feeding on the animal's carcass. The dog was captured and is now being examined as evidence. A 41-year-old man has been arrested. The man, from Southport, Merseyside, is being held on suspicion of causing cruelty to animals.

The dog was abandoned and is
    now being held as evidence

Witnesses saw the dog pounce on the fallow doe after being released from the blue vehicle at about 1630 GMT on Thursday. Lancashire
Constabulary wildlife officer Duncan Thomas said: "This is a sickening
attack on a defenseless animal and these people must be caught.
"They carried out this crime purely for sport and self-gratification and I
would urge anyone with any information about this incident to come
    forward."
