Not keen on getting too close to birds ever since my Gran's budgie got stuck in my hair when I was about 4! :2431:

My friend's son keeps chickens. They live on a farm so they (the chickens, that is!!) have a large shed all to themselves. He has 8, 3 different breeds. He can recognise all the different breeds by sight and knows which type of hen has laid the eggs!!

And he's only four years old!!

They have the run of the yard once all the horses are worked and then Barney rounds them up as soon as it starts to go dark.

On one occasion Kia chased them all round the yard and we spent about two hours looking for one by torchlight. Gave up in the end and left it to the mercy of the foxes but it turned up safe and sound next morning fortunately
