i need help took blaze out the other day wearin a half check collar - normally walk him on a harness but i was only going 2 get my lil bro from school - and he tried 2 jump up this little kid so i grabbed hold ov the collar 2 make him sit down and he growled - if i grab his harness in the same way he growls any ideas y? and what i can do 2 stop him? - also any help on the jumping up wud help too :) thnx in advance guys

oh n its more like a grumbly growl rather that an agressive growl - but obv i dont want it 2 turn in2 agression

it sounds like hes trying it on hun.... hes a teenager lol.... keep correcting him every time he does it, let him know youre boss and not him ... i think most of us on here have had the same problem with our dogs...

im nost sure tbh hun, i think what youre doing is enough, try and catch him before he jumps up, try and recongnise the signs before he does and then stop him... he will soon grow out of it if you keep on top of him and remain consistent

a few updates on how weve been gettin on over the past couple ov weeks -

jut a quick update ive been workin on training blaze - just the few basics makin him sit at roads (used 2 do this but kindda let it slip) keepin him on a short lead and swapping what side hes on if we walk past people and hes doing alot better still need sum work as i get stressed out if he doesnt listen and plays up (trying 2 train both ov us 2 keep calm is rly hard!) just need 2 keep up the work ov makin him sit and waiting and 2 ignore other dogs lol hes not growled much since either he deffo doesnt like being held by the scruff but im trying 2 b firm and stay calm

ive just got bk from a wlk we were wlkin (blaze is on his short lead) and a lad iss running behind us with a staffy so i move out the way and pull blaze 2 the side with me and he didnt even try 2 lunge at the dog or anythin he just gave a little growl - which is great for him and as we went further down the road this kid ran past us - normally he wud try n dive at sum1 running past us - but i made him sit (we were near a road n he always has 2 sit at the roads) and he just looked at him

i went 2 pick my lil bro up from sch - he had gone 2 a secondary school for a play i went down there at 3 as they said thats what time he was gettin out (didnt get out till half past 3 tho) got 2 the main gate told blaze 2 sit and w8 and he didnt jump up at any1 sooo proud ov him

theres this corner i get 2 on my walks that when he sits down he just doesnt want 2 he dives all other the place and wont listen but no he is sitting and waiting and not diving :D its sooo great :p lol

    nice one :san50:

i bet its because you didnt see the cat first, you didnt pass any tension down the lead, so he didnt bother with it

if i see a dog over the road before fred does, i look away and i sing in my head....''its not a dog its not a dog'' ... and cos im relaxed he doesnt pick up on it :san12: :san12:
