| one of our recently re-homed dogs has started chewing in her new home, she has not had a season yet. do dogs suffer a hormone in balance like ourselves, could this be the cause of her behaviour?? she only chews when left alone, the owner says she thinks its boredom rather than seperation anxiety. I have advised crating for now till things improve. any advice would be welcome! |

| we used vicks when we had betty .. it worked but only if she wasnt left for more than a few hours, then she found a way around it lol... then we had to resort to crating her
i never had this problem with fred, i dont know if i ever would have, but after my first dog boss i want taking any chances lol.... i saved all my little boxes ..so that when i went out i would fill them with smelly treats, poke a few holes int he box so he could smell them then i taped the box up real good... it must of worked because *touches wood* hes never chewed...
we tried the box thing with betty though and it never worked ...
dont know if this has been any help at all :2431: _________________ ~The dog is a gentleman! I hope to go to his heaven, not man's~ |

| As you can see when we first had Mickey he liked to chew We crate trained him for a while and also bought a spray from the petshop that is supposed to stop them Think it was supposed to taste bad It soon stopped him Think he chewed this because he was bored he is very naughty and mischievious anyway and a real attention seeker It was done overnight |

Shady still does this Hilary and she has had a season, i found it's no point coating anything in anything to prevent it coz she will chew anything i have to double check everthing before i go out to make sure she cant getanything to chew but it makes no differance she will find something to get her teeth into, the other day it was books off a shelf, plastic storage stuff from the kitchen cupboard, me wellies a shovel from the yard, clothes, wash baskets, shoes, dog dishes, dogmatic head collars leads credit cards the list is endless, it makes no differance if she has company either if my OH is there she will sneak off and find something to chew on. as soon as i walk out that door she looks for something to chew i have yet to find a cure for this black scouse bitches chewing!!! i have sympathy for your friend i really do but no advice sorry _________________ "My sunshine doesn't come from the skies, it comes from the love in my dogs eyes."
