Guide dog attack - finally an arrest!

British Transport Police has arrested and charged a man wanted in
connection with a dangerous dog offence at Cricklewood station, north
London. John-Jo Madden, 18, of Gospel Oak, north-west London, was
arrested and charged following consultation with the Crown Prosecution
Service late on Friday, 18 December.

    He has been charged with
offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act and Animal Welfare Act. The dog
thought to be involved in the attack has not yet been recovered.
“We believe that the dog has been passed on to a third party and
our enquiries to locate it are ongoing,” said BTP Detective
    Constable Gerry Griffin.

    “Dangerous dogs pose obvious
safety risks to the public and we would encourage anyone who knows the
whereabouts of this animal to come forward and contact us with
information.” Madden, who is on bail, will appear at Highbury
Corner Magistrates Court for a first hearing on February 2, 2010.

    The
attack happened on Sunday 4 October, when a 57-year-old blind woman was
walking through the station at approximately 1:30pm.

    Her
guide dog, a brown Labrador called Neela, was attacked by another
bull-terrier-type dog in the station subway. Neela has thankfully
    recovered.

    NEELA

    awwww bless her
