PostSubject: Update on Stan, now 13 weeks.   Fri Jan 30, 2009 10:29 pm

Well, Mimi was a fairly easy puppy all in all and Maggie has been a dream, the fat lump spends most of her time asleep.

Now Stan, well, hes a whole new ball game

He's so quick to learn, he will sit at any time we say sit now after two times of being shown, he knows leave, he knows wait all again, two or three times of us showing what we want, he does it everytime. He also does that really close sit they do in obedience after a recall and is pretty good at walking to heel offlead in the house as long as there are no distractions (he cant go out yet).

The downside of this lol he is trying to make up his own rules, he is attempting to be food aggressive with everyone. He is now terrible if he sees the girls but will sit if our hand goes near his bowl instead of growling. He tries to manipulate everything by whining and growling if he doesnt get his own way and he steals everything. He has even learnt how to open the grill door, which the other dont bother with at all.

He's completely over his fear of me too after lots of training sessions and "bonding", this has been replaced with cockiness.

Gonna have some fun with this little fella I think :2445:

Sounds you have him sussed Paula, :2445: if he had a weaker owner he would prob run amuck by now hun, but he has you to correct him and keep him in his place.

I found the opposite, Hazel was/is an easy dog, Bryn is fairly easy......MISTY... what a little shyte head she was/is on times, too clever for her own good, and will do anything to create trouble and have a laugh!!

    Thanks ladies x

lol if you went near him while he had food Faz, he would growl. Then he would snap and lunge if you put your hand near him.

He will allow us near his bowl now but sometimes goes a bit stiff which is a huge improvement.

Cant have a food aggressive pup with kids about.

lol Jude, I will be complaining about him lots I think in future!!!

He's doing great Sandra, I think hes just clever and tries to make up his own rules. If we show him what we want, he happily accepts it and forgets about his little tantrums.

lmao yep, already do, hardly been on pc!!!

He came from the OH's friend, they had two older ones that were attacking him. He's a bit timid and can sometimes growl a bit but hes settling down now.

Another big dog, were turning into a dog rescue. Definately no more.

    :2445: :2445: :2445:

I might stick with the girls for now, he hasnt even been out yet so needs training too.

I will walk all three one day, I CAN DO IT :2445: :2445:

Actually, OH is going to walk him if it proves to be a struggle but I think it will be fine.

Need a training class though, I'm gonna try him with obedience, he needs alot of "stimulating" and its not the same on the park on my own.
