How long did it take for yours to get used to them and not act like a raving loony everytime its put on!!!

i have to say when marley is being good about it walking with him has been brilliant, no pulling and no sore arms but he's a nightmare with it when he gets into one of his strops!!!! I'm taking dog treats out with me to try and distract him but he starts to pull at his lead, rub his face against my leg or try and paw it off. We have tried leaving it on him hin th ehouse but he rolls all over the place until he does get it off!! :san54:

he's a right so and so!!

It does take a while jude and every dog is different in how they react to it
my older two are ok but they have been wearing them for years, indie has only
been wearing his for a few weeks now and still protests a bit now and then
but although its a pain you just have to persevere.

fred has been wearing one for about a year now, and it took him ages to get used to it lol... i bought him a new one the other day as his last one had become a bit worn, and he knows its a new one and keeps trying to rub against everything he walks past, including me lol... i think the last one must have lost its effectiveness

Bryn has had one to get used to since a pup, however, misty had hers when she was older, she did protest at first but I ignored her, she is an OK dog to ignore and she was great with it within a short time, however, Hazel never got used to it and still goes into hysterics if I go anywhere near her with one xx

same with tilly i never used one until bailey was about 1 year old, they both pulled me over :2431: in the mud, on a rainy day :zaa: coz tilly wanted to kill a little dog thats was yapping at her..so i bought 2... bailey still hates his, but if it gets him to the park he will stick his head in it while turninig round and round with excitment :2431: once in the park he rubs his head on the grass constantly to get it off, when all he's doing is rubbing it further up his face. stupid dog
.with Tilly you could put an elastic band around her nose and it would'nt faze her one bit

Did use one on Sabre for a short time when he was younger. Took him about 3 or 4 walks to get used to it. Each time I took him somewhere he hadn't been before. Seemed like the novelty of all the new sights and smells took the empasis of the halti.

Marley is getting better with the Halti, he will even sit and let me put it on now without too much of a fight (all depends on what mood he's in!!) but OMG he learns so quickly!!!!

All this week since we got the Halti he has brushed up against my leg when we have been walking and has tried to get it off, each time I have given him a firm NO and carried on walking, when he has walked nicely I have given him one of his favourite yogurt drops telling him he is a good boy.

Today he had Ed crying with laughter as we played with him along the beach but then walked him back along the cycle path on his halti, he started rubbing his nose against my leg and then nudging my hand for a treat and when I didnt give him one he lay down in the huff!!!! :san42: :san42:
