PostSubject: too comfortable   Fri Oct 23, 2009 3:47 pm

ive been thinking today about fred and his aggression/dominance with other dogs..... i just cant predict him...sometimes he ignores other dogs, sometimes hes curious...and other times hes like kujo, then other times he just barks ....

thinking back.. it seems that when he ignores other dogs its when were taking a new route or a route we dont often take... when were somewhere familiar is when hes at his worse...

in the vets he is the model pet....he sniffs other dogs, walks past them and you would harldy know he has a problem :nhy: ...

take today we were taking a usual route but on a different path on the opposite side of the road we normally take and he was fine with 2 dogs we saw ...

yet yesterday he was like a mad animal towards a small puppy we saw, and we had walked that route the day before... ....

i dont think its always me, as hes seen a dog before i have and gone mad.... then ive corected him, so i cnat have given him any vibes that particular time

    bloomin dog

I totally understand where your coming from hun, I do think we give off vibes BUT I don't think it always does determine the dogs behaviour....why... beause I have 4 dogs and all bar Misty are easy going.

And she is very confusing wuth her behaviour, take our last episode, a rottie that she has always had a prob with came along, I thought 'here goes' so I was giving off bad vibes, but Bryn and Molly started playing with the Rottie and I could see Misty's tale wagging, so I praised her made a fuss etc, kept the mood light, I had all 4 sat giving treats, all was well, I repeated this 3 or 4 times whilst taking to the Rottie owner, anyway, in between everything, I dropped something and my friend held Misty's lead, all was fine, we carried on talking, when it was time to part ways, what did Misty do, after being all nice, she gave a bloody little growl at the Rottie, and my friend was still holding Misty, and besides, we had been there long enough for us all to think Misty was being good today so who the hell can work her out I will never know

    it's a toughie Shelley.
with Tilly i know she will be horrid to another dog
but saying that, she has differant reaction with all differant dogs.
big dogs, she will stick her tail in the air hackles up but just stare walking past them, small dogs dogs she will lunge at them she really hates little ones, loose dogs, she's a bit wary if they are big, dogs on a lead she will try and have a go big or small.

i took her out on her own one day last week, then she's less protective of Bailey so therfore not AS aggressive
i never usually EVER let her off the lead when other dogs are about but this one time i could'nt resist this woman goes regular to the park she has 3 GSD's 2 white and 1 b&t, her dogs are always loose and continually bark at my 3 when we walk past, she said "i dont know why they are like that with your dogs they are fine with others!" i Jokingly said to her they are Jealous of My Bailey's looks thats why they bark stupid cow has not spoken to me since..
anyway i unleashed Tilly on this occasion coz i thought f**k it her dogs annoy me
so as usual they start running toward an unleashed Tilly she just turned and chased them off, all 3 of them yelping like babies and she ran back to me. i was so proud of her but dont know if i would do it again if there was only one dog

it is a hard one....i just cant work it out :nhy: .... weve been out today and hes been absolutely fine .... he didnt even flinch when the gsd at the top of the street was grolng and barking at us from behind the fence.....he was more focused on the cats at the bottom of the street.....i wonder if i bottled cat smell and sprayed it in front of him when he sees a dog, this will sidetrack him :2431:
