Tug of love dog Scamp reunited with owners

Scamp, the tug-of-love dog, has been reunited with her owners

SCAMP, the tug-of-love dog, has been reunited with her owners.
    Last
week we told the story of a brokenhearted couple who returned from
holiday to find their pet of five years had been rehomed and would
“under no circumstances” be returned to them.
    Shane
and Janet de Lacy left the Lhasa Apso in the care of their daughter
Sian, 35, from Wallasey, when they travelled to Sicily for two weeks.
    But
while they were away their dog went missing and despite being reported
missing, was found by Wirral Council’s kennel’s service,
renamed Sweetie and rehomed with a family who refused to return the dog.
But now, thanks to the News, this family has relented and returned Scamp.
    Sian,
a mother-of-two, collected the family pet on Thursday and returned her
to her parents who live in Monmouth, South Wales, over the weekend. She
said: “The relief is just unbelievable.
“When Scamp went missing we scoured the streets for hours and reported her missing over the phone to the council.“I now know that I should have gone to the council kennels in person every day.
“After such a traumatic experience, it’s great to have a happy ending.”
Her dad Shane added: “We were never going to give up trying to get Scamp back because she is part of our family.
    “She’s
a lovely dog with a great character.”

A Wirral Council spokesman said: “We are delighted for the de Lacy family that Scamp has returned to them.
    “We
also acknowledge the difficult position the adoptive family were placed
in and are appreciative of the understanding and compassion they have
    shown in giving Scamp back.
“We will make every effort to help them find another suitable dog.”
