Just saw this on the new DDA forum and it worries me. After looking at pics of these dogs, some look like Bullmastiffs and other look like DDB's. I hope they arent planning on using this dog as a measuring stick for "banned breeds" other than pits in the future. |

| looking at conan, i wouldnt say he looks anything like a DDB... or a bull mastiff....to me he looks like a big dopey dog :san42: ... but i hear what your saying though... any dog that looks like this is in danger of being seized and destroyed whether it is or isnt a toso..... its a worrying thought for sensible owners _________________ ~The dog is a gentleman! Thats the point Bren, they are all different but have similarities. I hope they arent gonna start a crackdown on the Tosa and drag all these others down too like they have with pb's/staffs/crossbreeds. We know the heartache thats caused already without them starting on the others too. These breeds are already lumped together, hence the google search. |

The Tosa we recognize today was developed in the late 1800's when the best of the Japanese Tosas were crossed with newly imported European breeds (the Great Dane, Mastiff, Bulldog, and St. Bernard) to increase its size. The result was a powerful, agile and athletic mastiff-type dog. In Japan, the Tosa (also called the Tosa-inu or Tosa-ken) is considered a national treasure. |
