pretty impressive i think for a showline ...... imo anyway lol... if you read further down in the thread they will prob disagree lol.... but as a ''showline'' goes, i think it was pretty good ...

i reckon fred would be good at this .....

havent read the posts yet what i would say is looks like hes having a great time and thats nice....but hes mouthy in his bite and also bites with his front teeth a bit, also not targeting the right area on the sleeve. he hasnt been put in defence there purely prey *can also see from the dog hes in prey* no pressure has been put on him, id like to see him under pressure b4 i cn comment that it is in fact just as good as a working dog.....

ive seen labradors do just as good a job *will find the clip* also after the out were is the stand off .....

not my idea of a working dog but nice to see a dog and handler having fun and doing well

but were not on about labradors fazza :nhy: ....

as a 'showline' dog goes...i think its impressive... it may never be as good as the 'working line' but then its not bred from the same stock....

some people like the thought of having a showline dog that has the ability to do sch etc as well i spose  .....

why should sch etc be just for working dogs

no hun missing point lol

gen working dogs DONT do sch as we find it doesnt prove anything, hence why i dont do it as you can work a dog purely in prey drive and not put pressure on it like with working dogs i was told my dogs are too extreme for sch *off a top trainer* so they would get marked down, but he loved rostam

my point in showing labs doing bitework is that the labs are doing better then the sch 3 GSD?? a lab isnt bred for its bite, its drive in that area but a GSD is so shows what weak breeding the GSD has and wat poor training also

each to their own surely, doesnt make it right or wrong  ....

maybe the labs are doing better than the sch 3 gsd... but then they wouldnt be put in the same competition at the same time would they?... lol...

i spose all animals have different abilities, different strengths... i think its great that a showline dog also has the ability to do sch... it may not be as good as dogs who are bred for such a sport.. but then the dogs who are good at it may not be in the line for showing....if you kwim its hard to put my point across.... :2431: ....

PostSubject: Re: showline did it also   Wed Sep 16, 2009 6:54 pm

any breed partakes in sch inc labs hence the videos put up

but the showline GSD may be going through the motions but isnt actually "doing well" at sch. everything they do is routine, the tracks are all the same the bitework is all the same so practice enough at home with your dog he will do it.

it shows nothing of actual working ability, so take that dog put it on a site such as i work, and see how well the dog does doing sch there....prob wont do well at all as the enviromet is diff. there is a lot more to this then ppl think, hence why im not impressed in the slightest at that dog doing that. as a lot of show ppl send their dogs to germany to be trained in it and titled then bring them home to show and breed.

each to their own yes very much so, but bragging your dog can work wen in fact hes just going through the motions is a lil silly. the dog didnt even do a stand off, was in prey at all times and didnt bite well nor target the correct area *baiter* error also.

Shouldnt these dogs be able to manage the full sport to be classed as any good?

If they cant work in defence etc as they get nervous, whats the point in doing sch at all? They are only doing part of the sport, surely?

yes but the sport IMO and that of others isnt wat it used to be its now just a way for show ppl to make more money on their dogs so they actually pass anything and everything now.

i will not partake in such sports due to this, i go down to the club i train at now and then and by god their dogs are fab but mainly sport bred or actual police dogs, few show dogs there now too from videx lines i think one the lads was telling me on FB

yes but these ppl are breeding weak dogs and thats no laughing matter lol they have rueind the GSD in ways sorry but i train a LOT of them and i find it so odd to see such a stressy breed, i dont have this at all with ki she will work for anyone i ask her too doesnt get stressed ect in situations do tht god dam awful GSD scream and so forth they are now nervous wreaks, i havent met one GSD yet that i have trained that isnt apart from the ones i worked or trained to work in the feild

now everyone wants diff things but come on do you want a stress head for a dog...

Mimi gets stressed when were sat on the park bench and Joe goes into the park. She hates him being so far away and whines and gets herself all excited if we dont tell her to stop Shes a plank, shes fine the rest of the time, its only when Joe goes too far from us :2445:
