I prefer toys to treats. Treats feel very "unnatural" to me, I'm all fingers and thumbs and get my timing wrong. With a toy, its so much easier. Mags wont play with a toy though, but shes really slowgoing anyway so theres no rushing with her :2445:

The other two love tug of war and will focus on a toy if I have one in my hand

it depends what mood fred is in lol..if his mind is focused on something it shouldnt be, its very hard to grab his attention

I'm working on a "special toy" which is only for focus. I started before but then got distracted with other stuff and have never got it to the point I want it.

I will keep going. I helped someone with a collie once, it would chase cars in the street or anything else that moved. We got it focussed on a tennis ball instead and it didnt take any notice of anything but the ball in the owners hand by the end. It helped that she was obsessed with the ball anyway.

Thats what I want with mine, a huge distraction from any temptation when were out and about, they are stronger than me :2445:

ive tried everything faz..... i try getting his attention with it before he sees another dog....cheese worked for a while....but he learned why i was getting the cheese out lol...... if we see a dog and hes got his ball....he shakes his ball about and growls ...or he just lets it go and barks at the other dog.....

and then some days he doesnt bother with dogs, depends what mood hes in.... kicking his arse tends to distract him :2431:
