| this is awful I am trying to find the forum or email that came through today regarding missing kittens now this has come through I hope it is not them http://animals-in-the-news.blogspot.com/2009/07/drie-kittens-gruwelijk-afgeslacht-in.html
THE bodies of three slaughtered kittens have been found with tears in their necks after being strangled to death. Following the horrific discovery, a shocked RSPCA officer described the terrifying ordeal as "horrific and senseless" and urged any witnesses to the attack to come forward.
The kittens, aged approximately six weeks old, were discovered in Acland Street, Peterborough at about 8am on Wednesday.
The body of one black and white kitten was found near the door of an office building, surrounded by spots of blood. The kitten's tail had been roughly cut off. A few feet away lay the body of a black kitten and another black and white kitten was found around the corner in a car parking area.
RSPCA inspector Kat Parfitt who is carrying out extensive investigations into the incident took the bodies to a vet who found that the kitten with the missing tail had a fractured neck.
The other kittens also had bloody wounds and tears in the skin around their necks. All three are thought to have been strangled to death.
Inspector Parfitt said: "This was a horrific and senseless attack on three tiny defenceless animals. The distress and pain they would have suffered is unimaginable and it is absolutely vital that we find the person responsible for this.
"We believe that the attack happened between 6pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday and that the kittens were killed in the car park due to the amount of blood at the scene. If anyone has any information on who did this they need to get in touch with the RSPCA immediately."
Those found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to animals could face a maximum six-month prison sentence and/or a £20,000 fine. Anyone with information about the kittens should call the RSPCA in confidence on 0300 1234 999.
Peterborough Cats Protection is looking for potential pet owners to home some of their ever increasing numbers of cats and kittens. Those who want to adopt will be asked to make a minimum donation of £40 for a kitten and £50 for a cat.
All cats and kittens will have received a health check by a vet, be treated for fleas and worms, and have had at least their first vaccination. For more information, call 0845 3712750.
