PostSubject: half check chain and training   Sun Jul 19, 2009 3:33 pm

well today ive rooted out all the training tools lol.. freds got his half check back on, and what a difference it makes ... my brother came today, and before he came i knew i would need either the full check or half check to keep control of him when my brother and his girlfriend were inside the house...

fred was leashed and not allowed to say hello to my brother until he had calmed down, everytime he pulled to get closer, i walked away and came back, getting closer each time, till he calmed down... it took about 3mins before he got the message... then my brother fussed him and fred didnt even get up to jump or be a nuisance... i kept him on lead till emma my brothers g.f fussed him, he behaved then too.. and then i let the lead longer... he was okay.... then i let the lead go.... and he never bothered with them, i unhoooked the lead completely and he buggered off outside to play, and never came back...normally he would bounce all over them, whining and screeching for attention.... we had it nipped in the bud before it started today :san12: ... got friends staying tomorrow so i will be doing this again... hopefully by the time the OH is home next week, fred will have the general idea

i really feel as if were getting somewhere with the training this time....

*buggers off b4 everyone gets bored of me droning on about training lol*

thats great Shell,  I'm really pleased you feel as though you are getting somewhere. I dont get bored with you telling us I know how good it feels when you finally achieve something

one thing no one can say about us Shell is that we are quitters!!! I have a lot more grey hair since getting Marley!!!

    well done hun

cheers jude... ....thats one thing were definately not lol ..no one can call us quitters :nhy: .... i dont know why but it just feels different this time.... hes so much more grown up if you kwim... its weird... hes not acting like a little puppy anymore.... i have to stop myself going up to him all the time lol... earlier his bed was at the far end of the kitchen and he was lying on it..... he would never ever lie on his bed unless it is infront of the kitchen stairgate and he was shut in there....

were doing a lot of eye contact exercises in the garden....lots and lots ... maybe this is giving him more respect for me and me for him ... we were close before, but now were close in training as well....

and the fact that my OH is going to be involved in the training is a big help too.... he normally interferes or gets it wrong, but doing a bit with zep has made him feel he can do it i think... its not just me now...

cheers hun.. if i had taken a firmer hand and been more strict with training before now, we wouldnt be at the stage we are now lol... ive tried everything in the past, and what were doing now clicks with us ...

or maybe ive got my head around it properly this time, so were more in syn with each other :2431:

oh right. just pm me if you need any help though wont you.
one can also tell a lot from facial expressions in a dog.
i have been studying them for quite some time now.
i can tell if a dog is happy, sad, annoyed, frightened, content, wary. just by looking at them, it is quite fascinating in my opinion.
