 | Subject: *FREDS TRAINING UPDATE* Tue 14 Jul 2009 - 16:43 | |
| We went to pick fred up from mascani kennels today, hes been there for 5 days training... and he was.......... bloomin great...until we got there, then he started whining and being silly ... hes been working really hard and doing great... he was fine on his recall.... fine doing heel work, and great with cats and dogs.... i said that fred would be fine with dogs he got to know, its strange ones he creates a fuss with.... so i had hold of fred and was told to go out of view and walk about with him, while zep bought out a couple of dogs, one at a time, that had only just arrived for training,so they were still hyped up and full of energy... i had hold of fred, no halti, i told him to leave as soon as he saw the dog...and he never created a fuss at all...he did realy well... so we continued to walk about whilst another new dog was bought out to surprise fred, and this dog was up for anything.... fred listened to everything i said and did, and was an absolute diamond!!... zep even bought out one of his males, and he got geoff to walk right past the male dog with fred..something that isnt normally done with two males...and fred never bothered at all... :san12: we will continue with everything that weve been taught today... zep said to work fred at home for the next week before taking him out on a proper walk...just so we know what were doing properly..hes given us a lot of helpful pointers which were excited about getting started on.... the OH had a go at doing some training today, and he was better than he thought he would be... i think he surprised himself lol... i ahve to learn to calm down when theres other dogs about, as fred will pick up on this, i already knew this lol.. but zep does understand that its not easy when theres stray dogs about.. but if we continue with what weve been taught, at least fred will listen to commands and not go of one one, keeping me more calmer lol if you kwim :2431: in august my OH is off for 3 weeks so we will be taking fred to mascani a couple of nights a week for training... so we may see you there bren with keira and mickey... who zep says is a great dog the minute fred got home... what did he do... chase the friggin cat ,.... we also asked zep whether it would be a good idea to get another dog...he said yes..but it would be wiser to wait until hes calmed down and hes not so bouncy... :san12: all in all i feel it was all worth it... cant wait to get stuck in with freds training now _________________ ~The dog is a gentleman! | after freds initial meeting with bullet and him trying to bloomin chase and bother him, we soon got it nipped in the bud and he soon realised that the same rules apply here as they do at zeps lol... in the end they were both lying on the rug together and bullet was also walking all around fred without fred moving a muscle... its all baby steps, but at least they are headed in the right direction _________________ ~The dog is a gentleman!
