my last dog boss never had yearly boosters done either, but then he never had to stay in kennels when we went away and he never needed to go to training... fred goes for training and and stays in the kennels when we go away so he needs his done

the vet did say to me when fred had his first ones done that there was no need for boosters, his dogs never had them :nhy:

mine all get theirs every year i do know all the hype about ppl saying they dont need them ect

but i dont want my dog getting parvo or anything, i think thats more of a risk to my dogs. plus a lot of the places i take my dog like trials, on jobs theirs always huge groups of dogs.

i have very good friends who are vet nurses and vets and we discuss this all the time.

PostSubject: Re: annual boosters   Mon Jul 06, 2009 4:41 pm

the risk is the same for all dogs i think, no matter what they do.... i.e theres a risk if you go training with other dogs.... walking them anywhere is a risk as foxes etc get everywhere....

but then my dog boss lived to the age of 14 with very little health problems until the end... and my aunt who lives on a farm never gets boosters done for any of her dogs...

but then if i was to now stop getting freds boosters... and he was to contract parvo.. i would feel guilty...

each to their own i think
