CHAMPIONSHIP show judges David and Sylvia Blaxter, who were convicted
recently of causing unnecessary suffering to one of their dogs, have
resigned their membership of the Mastiff Association.
At a meeting on Sunday, the Association’s committee – of
which Mr Blaxter was a member – formally accepted their
resignations.
In a case brought before Aylesbury magistrates by the RSPCA, Mr Blaxter
(Namous) and Mrs Blaxter (Masnou) were found guilty of failing to
provide adequate veterinary treatment for one of their dogs.
The couple, of Barton Hartshorne, Buckingham, Northamptonshire, own Mastiffs and Great Danes.

Mr Blaxter, 71, is co-author of The Complete Mastiff, and was a member
of the association’s health working party and breed health
representative to the Kennel Club.
The association’s committee said it had been shocked and saddened
by the case and said it ‘did not condone any action or lack of
action which might lead to unnecessary suffering in animals’.

Hmm, RSPCA again. I wonder what was wrong with the dog? I never trust that charge, it can be stretched way more than it should.
