yes its me droning on about fred again lol

we went to the vets for a walk yesterday to get some flea treatment, its free on the plan so even if he doesnt need it i still get what im entitled too lol. when i walked through the door i though oh FFS, here we go with fred lol... the waiting room was full of dogs including a lovely large irish wolfhound :love: .... fred did not bat an eyelid... he didnt even bother with any dogs except the large wolfhound who he wanted to sniff at, so i thought f**k it, if hes going to start anything were in the best place to deal with any injuries :2431: ... he walked over,very nicely, and had a sniff and that was it...he didnt bother until a couple of miniature daschunds barked at him and and scared him lol.... i was really really pleased with him.......UNTIL......... we got down the road and a bloke with a staffy came walking towards us, and fred did his usual barking.. i squirted him with water and he calmed down...

i cant understand why he was like that with the staffy when he was so good in the vets surrounded by dogs?? :thinking:

so the OH and i have decided that we are going back to elvaston castle training on a sunday... the training may not be the best, but were going more for the socialising side of it, a big part of the reason why were going back is the OH wants to take fred on holiday again this year... but i refuse to until this problem is sorted out!!... so hes agreed to go back to camp a little later on a sunday, so we can go training, and if fred comes on holiday, he will also get up early with me to take fred for his morning walk to the beach.

:thinking: See this is what also confuses me :thinking: Bryn is brill with dogs when he is off lead, he is brill with dogs if we go to training class or where there is a bunch of dogs, but on lead, he very often (not all the time) has to give a bark even if he knows the dog :thinking:

I was thinking about going again too but I cant be doing with Martin "Mick Martin" whatever his name is. Hes shite :2445: and so are the others.

Mimi gets so bored with obedience training too, she'd much rather play "find it" or other games than plod around randomly sitting. Shes still the same now

I wonder if Fred is just growing up and all the work you have put in is starting to pay off? Plus, its easier to be a nuisance around one dog in the street than a roomful of them I suppose. You might find, one day soon, he will get loads easier in the street too, you're obviously doing something right. Fingers crossed :love:

any ho in my experience its a fecking shepherd thing hun lol they are gobby gits
kiera is the same sometimes if im using her as a stooge or shes working going to vets ect she doesnt care but on a walk she does like to give a lil bark now and then lol i just tell her off but try and keep her attention whilst passing the dog

wouldnt say being protective just down right rude lol thats what i call kierawen she does it lol but also depends on the other dog as ke will walk past happily but if that dog eyeballs her for a fight she will "bring it" lol

i agree with what your saying about the training group paula... they are shit lol...and fred started to get bored last time, but im not too bothered about that side if it tbh, im mainly going for the socialising side of it... i hate unpredictable side of him towards other dogs.

i was thinking something similar to what karen said, i wonder if hes over protective of me when were out on the street, cos like i said, when he was in the vets he was brill :thinking: ..

I actually like going to the training at Elvaston Shelley, but I need a dog that enjoys it :2445: The training is shit but the people are ok (mostly) and the socializing is great

You dont need to take too much notice of them anyway, you know how best to train Fred already but it will be good for seeing loads of dogs, like you say.

its okay if you can have a laugh while youre there cos it does get repetitive lol....and towards the end fred wasnt interested in it anymore, he just got bored of doing the same thing all the time!!.. there was never anything fun for them to do, just the same old walking up and down shit lol...

i reckon the socialising might do the trick....its a shame the group isnt for different breeds, that would be even better
