PostSubject: Half Check Dog Collar   Tue Mar 03, 2009 1:29 pm

ok so i have bought one ov these for blaze as he no longer pulls  except for when he sees people or other animals n no matter what i do he wont listen and also when i take him the feild he knows the route so he pulls just looking for advice on how tight it needs 2 b and where it needs 2 b placed on the neck for it 2 take effect? also any other advice given for usin this type ov collar is greatly appreciated thanks every1!

also this collar wont b used for when we r on the feild cuz he is allowed 2 run about then so he will only have it on walks where he isnt allowed 2 pull and for on the way to and from the feild only just incase any1 wanted to no or thought it was abit cruel to have him on one ov these collars when hes goin to the feild 2 play

Marley wears his half check all the time even when he is playing on the beach.

thought it wud b easier to get blaze a half check as he is still growin n we wud have 2 keep byin haltis as he grows cuz he is only 6 months on sat n they grow till they r 18 months n i dnt wanna use a halti if he sees a dog to my left n then suddenly turns n bolts as it might hurt his next as it wud whip it round if u no what i mean do u no where they r supposed 2 b placed on neck n how tight they shud b if they r being used for corrections?

Farah or Rosemary will probably be able to tell you better hun as I say Marleys isnt used for correction. If we get stopped on the beach by the dog wardens and Marley isnt wearing his collar with ID disc its an on the spot fine.

how are you using it hun?

there are loads of ways to teach a dog to heal ect one thing that may help it putting the collar high up on his neck also

PostSubject: Re: Half Check Dog Collar   Tue Mar 03, 2009 3:11 pm

i understand what you mean hun but if you allow him to pull so much then he doesnt see the doff in pulling a lil more IMO best to teach him to walk on a loose lead untill you say so if that makes sence as he dictating things

how do you correct do you give a slight correction to the side? do you take treats toys out as a reward just need a lil more info to help x

i will give him a small sharp tug to the side to correct him as treats just made him dive at me lol he doesnt pull at all till he sees a dog another animal or kids if there are none ov them on our walk he walks really nicely n doesnt pull at all unless its windy n leaves r blowin everywhere then he HAS to chase them unfortunately

lol sounds great to me haha

well your intresting untill something eles comes along hun so you need to become the most important thing to him via treats and toys its about teaching him how to respect your space at the same time so he doesnt jump he is only a baby tho hun so it will come

i wish i could show you as its sooooooooo easy lol dam it!! :banghead: :san42:

wen he goes to rush off try chaning direction and keeping his attention that way he follows you not the other way round and make it i to a game to just off to feed the pack but will giv you more info lol xx
