An up date on the whole sordid disgusting story. what a vile world we live in.........
Liverpool dog owner forced to listen as pet set on fire......
THE
owner of a dog burned to death on a Liverpool playing field was forced
to listen to the horrific moment his pet was torched by sick yobs.
The
ECHO understands the callous killing was part of a growing underworld
feud that has seen two city gangsters go against each other in recent
weeks.
And the owner himself was arrested on Friday as police staked out this weekend’s amateur football to stop any reprisal attacks.
It
is believed the one-year-old black and white Staffordshire bull
terrier-cross was snatched from a group who had been on the William
Collins playing fields, off Stanley Road, Kirkdale, last Sunday.
The
crowd had been on the fields hoping to watch the Sunday league football
match between the Western Approaches and Britannia VNC.
But soon after midday, the area was swamped with police after a shooting at the pitchside changing rooms.
Several
shots rang out from a white van in the car park but no-one was hit. An
under-12s match was abandoned by the referee after the shooting.
James
‘Pancake’ Taylor, 30, from Kirkdale was arrested on suspicion of affray
in connection with that incident. He is currently on police bail after
being questioned.
And the dog’s owner, a 46 year-old from West
Derby, was arrested on Friday on suspicion of having the gun used in
the shooting. He was later released on bail.
Sources say the dog was grabbed from the man later on Sunday and thrown into the back of a car, which sped away from the scene.
Then,
at around 8.20pm on Tuesday, the owner was called on his mobile and was
forced to listen as sick yobs poured petrol on his pet and set her on
fire.
Residents ran to help the dog, which was tied to a post, but a vet had to put her down because the burns were so severe.
Angry residents labelled those responsible as “not human”.
Merseyside police are now investigating both incidents at the playing fields.
Police
were yesterday at the game being played on the William Collins field
involving Lobster FC and at Scargreen Avenue, where the Western
Approaches were playing, in a bid to defuse any simmering tensions.
Anyone with information should call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 8658 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
